Machine-side approach to cloud-based agriculture with 5G utiliza-tion
Abstract:
Cloud applications for analysing data independently of the IT equipment of the agricultural machine enable rapid feedback during the ongoing work process. Extending cloud solutions is also easier and more comprehensive because no hardware adaptations to the agricultural machine are necessary. The integration of commonly available IT devices in the form of smartphones into the process chain therefore seems logical. In addition, the agricultural machine can be developed networked from the outset, for which the system architecture of new types of agricultural machines must be expanded to include interfaces and communication standards, which can be done simultaneously with the comprehensive automation towards field robotics. A concept for the system architecture of field robotics with initial technical solution approaches from the 5G Smart Farming research project are described in this article.
